The kids were asleep in their cribs as I was strapped to one of them to my back. Ha! All was starting to take shape, however we weren't anywhere near finished. For this project, I was prepared to shell out a substantial amount of time and money searching for the perfect home. To keep the budget in check, I began attending estate sales along with my three sons to find jewels in the rough. Our routine was to walk around garage sales and auctions on Sundays and Saturdays and purchase a range of pieces old and newly made. I'd spend my workdays on the drive either painting or sanding. My passion for restoration of furniture started with an appearance that was similar to this. Although our house was fully decorated, I was unable to stop. I rented a booth in the market at my local location and sold pieces there. Eventually, I had too many pieces to store in the space available. In my own home, I started hosting open houses, where over 1000 guests could visit and buy any item they wanted from the first floor over the course of a weekend. Growing Days was created in the home. My business was booming and my family was also growing. There was a perfect balance between starting a new business as well as being a mom. Growing Days was the obvious decision. Nora joined us in 2013 as our 4th baby. This was a fantastic direction for my company, however, I needed some time off. I opted to take a little time off from my vintage furniture and slow down to remain at home with the children. It was exactly the thing I needed. After a few months that the phones started to be ringing. A lot of people contacted me to ask for advice on home improvement and decorating. These people had mostly been to my home during open houses for furniture. Then I slowly took on clients in my own way. In the end, I had many clients, and had as a home improvement business. Had you told me my business would be an idea for the DIY Network show, I likely would have been astonished. As I reflect on the situation I am laughing.
